AzKish

Greek Ship

An old cargo ship stranded on Kish's west shore, the island's best-known photo spot.

Historical

The Greek Ship is the rusting hull of a cargo vessel that ran aground on Kish's west shore long ago and has slowly become the island's visual landmark. A visit is mostly standing on the beach, strolling and taking photos; getting too close to the weathered hull is not advised.

Because it sits on the west side, many people plan it for the last hours of the day to catch the sunset too. It is roughly fourteen kilometres from the island centre, so treat it as a trip of its own rather than a quick stop between two other places.

How to get there

Distance from Kish centre
14 km, about 18 min by road
Distance from Kish airport
13.4 km, about 20 min by road

Approximate road distance and time without traffic (public routing data, calculated 13 Oct 2026). Real time varies with traffic and Kish speed limits.

By car

By car the road from the centre and the airport is straightforward and you can usually find a place to park near the shore. If you want to combine several western stops, a car is the best option.

Without a car (taxi, agency, bicycle)

It is too far for a bicycle. Arrange a taxi or agency car for the round trip and ask the driver to wait; hailing a taxi from the spot itself can take a while at quiet hours.

Best time to go

Late afternoon until sunset; in summer there is little shade on the shore at midday.
