Should I bring my own car to Kish or rent one on the island?

Updated:

What can be compared with numbers?

We have only two sourced figures, both secondary and dated: the 1404 reference round-trip fare for an ordinary car, about 4,200,000 toman from Aftab and about 4,650,000 from Charak. The official portal mentions an island entry toll without an amount, so we give none. Daily rental rates vary by season, car and company and we quote no fixed figure here.

When bringing your car makes sense

If you carry heavy cargo, equipment or a special vehicle that is hard to find on the island. Note that commercial and public vehicles and some old models may not enter, and a non-resident's car may stay at most ten days (secondary source).

Steps

  1. Check the model and age against the restricted list.
  2. Verify technical inspection and third-party insurance.
  3. Compare your stay with the ten-day cap.
  4. Allow for the trip to the port, arriving 30 minutes early, and sea delays.

When renting on Kish makes sense

If you fly in or stay only a few days, skip the port coordination, clearance papers and transport risk. Under Kish rental regulations a rental car must carry valid inspection and insurance and be no older than eight years. Still ask for deposit and insurance terms in writing.

Steps

  1. Review the required documents (see the rental guide).
  2. Check a few days' price from the island fleet.
  3. Ask about deposit, insurance and mileage before signing.
